Welcome to the news page of La Bastide de Grignan, your 3-star hotel in the heart of the Drôme Provençale, just 800 metres from the Château de Grignan. Here we share all the latest news from the hotel, seasonal menus from our restaurant La Chênaie, special offers, and the must-see events on the Grignan and Enclave des Papes agenda.

Whether you are planning a stay in Grignan with family, as a couple or with friends, check this page regularly so you never miss the highlights of our region and the latest news from your favourite hotel.

🍃 Grignan through the seasons: a destination alive all year round

The Drôme Provençale is one of those destinations with no bad season. Every quarter brings its own colours, flavours and events — all the more reason to return and discover Grignan in a new light.

❄️ Winter (January – March): the black truffle season

Winter in the Drôme Provençale is above all the season of the Black Truffle — the Tuber Melanosporum, nicknamed the Black Diamond. From December to mid-March, the truffle market of Richerenches brings life to the Avenue de la Rabasse every Saturday morning, just 15 minutes from our hotel. This market is the largest in Europe for black truffle, with nearly 30% of national production passing through its stalls.

At La Bastide de Grignan, our chef Freddy TRICHET celebrates this treasure of the terroir with a gastronomic menu entirely dedicated to fresh truffle: truffle scrambled eggs, Black Diamond risotto, and meats elevated by the earthy aromas of Tuber Melanosporum. A stay in Grignan in winter is a unique gourmet and sensory experience. Advance booking essential.

🌸 Spring (April – June): an awakening of the senses

In spring, the Drôme Provençale dresses in its finest colours. Almond trees blossom in March, cherry trees in April, and the first lavender fields begin to appear from May. It is the ideal season to explore the area around Grignan: the hilltop villages of the Enclave des Papes, the Provençal markets on Tuesdays and Sundays in Grignan, and tastings of wines from the Grignan-les-Adhémar appellation.

It is also the perfect time to enjoy the outdoor pool at La Bastide de Grignan (open May to September) and the shaded terrace of our restaurant La Chênaie, set within a peaceful landscaped park. The spring events in Grignan already hint at a summer season packed with cultural activities.

☀️ Summer (June – August): Grignan's major cultural events

Summer is the peak season for events in Grignan. Two unmissable highlights animate the cultural agenda of the region every year:

Les Fêtes Nocturnes at Château de Grignan — Since 1987, an original theatrical production takes the stage every summer in the château's courtyard. In 2026, Molière's L'École des Femmes, directed by Robin Renucci (director of La Criée — Théâtre National de Marseille), will be performed from 24 June to 22 August beneath the stars. A breathtaking spectacle set against a unique Renaissance backdrop, just 800 metres on foot from La Bastide de Grignan.

Le Festival de la Correspondance — Every early July, this unique literary festival celebrates the art of letter-writing through readings, author encounters and exhibitions. An intimate cultural event that draws lovers of the written word from across the world.

For these summer events, we strongly recommend booking your stay in Grignan well in advance — rooms at La Bastide de Grignan are often fully booked during the Fêtes Nocturnes. Take the opportunity to dine at La Chênaie before or after the show.

🍂 Autumn (September – November): tranquillity and authenticity

Autumn in the Drôme Provençale is a season that is still too little known — yet one of the most pleasant for a stay in Grignan. Temperatures remain mild, the vineyards turn gold and russet, and the region rediscovers its authentic pace far from the summer crowds. It is the ideal time to explore the character villages of the Enclave des Papes — Valréas, Visan, Richerenches, Grillon — on peaceful walks.

It is also the season when the first truffles of the year begin to appear, ahead of the official opening of the Richerenches market in November. The autumn agenda in Grignan is quieter, but that is precisely what makes it the perfect restorative getaway.
