Every winter, from January to March, the Black Truffle — Tuber Melanosporum, known as the "Black Diamond" — takes centre stage at La Chênaie restaurant, nestled within the Hôtel La Bastide de Grignan. Chef Freddy TRICHET and his team craft an entirely truffle-focused gourmet menu celebrating this precious treasure of the Provençal terroir. Prior reservation required.

Friday evening — Arrival & gastronomic truffle dinner
Check in at Hôtel La Bastide de Grignan and let the enchanting aromas of the Black Diamond guide your senses. Chef Freddy TRICHET welcomes you to La Chênaie for a dinner entirely built around fresh black truffle. Every dish celebrates the richness of the Drôme Provençale terroir: scrambled eggs with truffle, truffle risotto, meats elevated by the earthy, woody flavours of Provence's most prized mushroom.
Saturday morning — Excursion to the truffle market
Head to Richerenches, the Truffle Capital, just 15 minutes away by car. Immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of a truffle market you've seen on television: truffle growers, traders, and passionate connoisseurs. Fresh truffle is negotiated here in a rare and authentic excitement. A truly one-of-a-kind experience.
Saturday lunch — On-site dining
In Richerenches, choose between a convivial "home-style" lunch or a gastronomic table. Both options naturally feature black truffle in generous, fragrant local cuisine.
Saturday afternoon — Truffle Museum & truffle hunting with an expert
Return to Grignan to visit the Truffle Museum, where you'll discover the fascinating story of the Black Diamond — from cultivation to harvest. Then comes a unique highlight: truffle hunting (cavage), guided by a local expert truffler. Learning how a dog detects the precious truffle buried beneath the oak groves of Drôme Provençale is a journey into a centuries-old tradition.
Saturday evening — Dinner at a partner restaurant
For this second evening, we recommend one of the region's excellent partner restaurants, also specialising in black truffle cuisine.
Sunday morning — Buffet breakfast & departure
Wake up gently to our buffet breakfast served in our veranda, before heading home via the Drôme Provençale truffle market. The perfect way to leave with a little Black Diamond tucked in your bag.
